Tracy Letts does a magical job at balancing hysterical family humor and absolute tragedy.To get the cast comfortable and laughing, we are going to do a dramatic reading of the dinner scene from hell in National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. We can then watch the clip after reading the scene. August: Osage County is a play about nostalgia and past experiences including both the literal past experiences (like Violet recalled Beverly living in a Pontiac Sedan) but also America's past (like the Trail of Tears and the Homestead Act).  For this production, the lobby display will have thirteen memory boards created by the actors as their respected characters. These memory could include pictures, art, interests, movies, music. Anything that the character might hold onto!  Here is an example of some possible ideas for Jean:
